MadeIn Art Centre is an architectural design project commissioned by MadeIn Company, located in Lvhua town, Chongming District, Shanghai. The centre is adjacent to the Xisha Wetland Park to the south and is a part of MadeIn Company’s artistic infrastructure on Chongming Island. Acts and Pathways were invited to research, design, and re-narrative the facilities, three abandoned farmhouses on the project site, and transform the functions and spaces of the buildings to a new purpose. Finally, we strategically proposed a dynamic relationship between MadeIn’s two local premises: MadeIn Museum and MadeIn Art Centre.

The key word of this design project is ‘relationship’. The relationship includes the geographical relationship between Chongming Island and downtown Shanghai, the relationship between MadeIn Art Centre and the MadeIn Museum, and the functional relationship between the three buildings in this project. Inspired by French art theorist Nicolas Bourriaud’s Relational Aesthetics, we want to create our own version of relational aesthetics within this project, which is the building’s relations that are defined by their function.

没顶艺术中心建筑设计项目由没顶公司委托，位于上海市崇明区绿华镇，南邻西沙湿地，是没顶公司位于崇明岛的一项艺术基础设施。项目基地原为三栋废弃的农舍，活络受邀通过研究、设计与再叙事，新规划设计了三栋建筑的功能与空间，策略性地形成了没顶公司在本地的“没顶美术馆+没顶艺术中心”的动态关系。

本项目设计的重点在于“关系”。即：从崇明岛与上海市区的地理关系，到该项目基地与没顶美术馆的配套关系，再到项目中三栋建筑之间的功能关系。受法国艺术理论家尼古拉斯·伯瑞奥德“关系美学”理论的启发，在这个项目里我们想创作的是由功能定义出的建筑与建筑之间的关系美学。
